A preformed sleeve for covering a pot having an upper end, a lower end, and an outer peripheral surface, the preformed sleeve initially having a flattened state, comprising: a base portion having an upper end, a lower end, an outer peripheral surface, and an interior space when opened; a skirt portion extending from the upper end of the base portion; a plurality of folds in the base portion and in the skirt portion when the preformed sleeve is in the flattened state; and a constriction element preattached to a portion of the base portion forming a constricted area in the plurality of folds in an upper portion of the base portion below the skirt portion wherein the constriction element is substantially immobile thereon.
